What is in it

Everything runs on your iPhone. Nothing to set up, and nothing to sign in to.

  1. Your documents stay yours

    Contracts, bank statements, IDs and medical records are compressed on your iPhone, with Apple's own frameworks and qpdf built into the app. They are never sent to a server, so there is no website to trust with them.

  2. Text stays text

    Images inside a PDF are made smaller, while text, links and drawings are left as they are. A compressed PDF can still be searched and copied from, page for page and word for word.

  3. Scans and photos, a fraction of the size

    A scanned page or a photo from your camera often shrinks by more than 90 percent: a 10 MB scan comes back at about 300 kB. Photos are capped at 2400 pixels, and every photo loses its location and camera details, even one that was already small.

  4. Forms, markup and signatures intact

    Filled-in forms keep their answers, and highlights, notes, stamps and drawings stay where they were. A digitally signed PDF is never changed, so its signature stays valid, and an encrypted PDF stays encrypted.

  5. Kept when it cannot shrink

    When a file is already as small as it gets, Shrink says so and keeps it as it was. Every copy shows its size before and after.

  6. From anywhere

    Pick a file or a photo in the app, or share a PDF or an image from Files or Mail and choose Shrink. Every compressed copy opens in a preview and can be shared from there.
