# Shrink > Shrink makes PDFs and photos smaller on the iPhone. Nothing is uploaded: a PDF is repacked losslessly with qpdf, and its images are re-encoded at 144 dpi with PDFKit only when text, form values and annotations come out unchanged; a photo is capped at 2400 px and written without metadata. Digitally signed PDFs are never changed, encrypted PDFs stay encrypted, and a file that cannot shrink by at least 1 % is kept as it was, except a HEIC photo with a location, which is saved again as JPEG without it. No account, no data collected, no subscription. ## Docs - [Shrink](https://shrink.donado.co/index.md): what the app does and who it is for. - [Support](https://shrink.donado.co/support.md): what Shrink does to a file, the first things to check, and the contact address. - [Privacy](https://shrink.donado.co/privacy.md): where files can go, and how to delete everything.
